The Spark Club at Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary worked extra hard to gather nearly 1,000 items for this year’s winter drive.
“My main goal for this clothing drive was to help people in need receive warm clothing for the cold winter months,” said Sam Zuckerberg, a school social worker and Spark advisor at RSE. “Our students in the Spark Club are between 4th and 6th grade, though students from all grades (K-6) raised clothing to help donate. Our students did a wonderful job of taking the initiative to raise donations with the help of their families, and some of our teachers in the building helped out as well.”
They gathered 954 clothing items, including socks, jackets, coats, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, and some stuffed animals for the families.
All the donations were donated to Maureen's Haven homeless outreach program in Riverhead.
