First Graders Learn Healthy Habits During Interactive Dental Hygiene Lesson

Posted Date: 05/06/26 (10:10 AM)

RSE students in first grade recently received a hands-on lesson in healthy habits thanks to a special visit from Dr. Sieger, Maybelle’s mom, who taught the class about the importance of proper dental hygiene.

During the engaging presentation, Dr. Sieger introduced students to “sugar bugs” and explained how cavities can form when teeth are not properly cared for. Through an interactive game, students discussed foods that help keep teeth healthy and foods that should be enjoyed in moderation.

One of the highlights of the lesson was a creative brushing activity in which students practiced proper brushing techniques using Coca-Cola-soaked eggs. The experiment demonstrated the effects sugary drinks can have on teeth while allowing students to see firsthand the importance of brushing.

The fun and educational experience left students smiling as they learned valuable lessons about maintaining healthy teeth and good daily habits.
