WHB's Top Graduates Trace Success to RSE
Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary School continues to build a legacy of academic excellence, with two of its alumni rising to the very top of the Class of 2026 at Westhampton Beach High School.
Westhampton Beach High School has announced Brady Schultz and Maiya Boughal as its valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively. Both students began their educational journeys at Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary, where the foundation for their academic success was first established.
Schultz and Boughal earned the top honors in their class through years of dedication, discipline and a commitment to excellence that has defined their academic careers.
Schultz has compiled an impressive list of achievements, including recognition as a National Merit Semifinalist, AP Scholar with Distinction and AP Capstone recipient. He serves as president of the National Honor Society and is a member of the Math, Foreign Language and Science honor societies. A leader both in and out of the classroom, Schultz is co-captain of the boys varsity tennis team, where he earned All-Division honors, and also serves as manager of the girls varsity tennis team.
His talents extend beyond athletics. Schultz is an accomplished performer in theater and music, earning both All-State and All-County honors as a singer. He is also involved in the school’s science research program.
Outside of school, Schultz is a certified EMT and a highly accomplished sailor. He captured first place at the North American Sunfish Championships and competed on the world stage, placing 56th at the World Championship in Ecuador this past December.
He plans to pursue a double major in biochemistry and Spanish in college.
Boughal has also distinguished herself as an exceptional student and athlete. She was named an AP Scholar with Distinction and earned the AP Capstone diploma. She is a member of the National, Math, Foreign Language and Science honor societies.
On the field, Boughal has been a standout lacrosse player, earning All-Division and All-Tournament honors during her four-year varsity career.
Beyond school, she is a certified ocean lifeguard, demonstrating her commitment to responsibility and service.
Boughal will attend Dartmouth College in the fall, where she will continue her lacrosse career while pursuing a neuroscience degree on a pre-med track.
For Remsenburg-Speonk Elementary, the achievements of Schultz and Boughal serve as a powerful reminder that success stories at the highest levels often begin in its classrooms. Their journeys reflect the strength of the district’s foundation and the lasting impact of an early commitment to learning, leadership and community.
