RSE Fourth Graders Explore Native American History Through Hands-On Learning

Posted Date: 11/07/25 (8:50 AM)

Fourth graders at RSE recently embarked on an engaging journey into local history, studying the Native Americans of the Eastern Woodlands, the Indigenous people who once inhabited this region.

As part of this immersive learning experience, students explored traditional Native American culture through storytelling, games, crafts, and a classroom “museum” filled with artifacts.

The lessons allowed students to deepen their understanding of how the Eastern Woodland Indians lived, worked, and interacted with their environment.

Students also had the opportunity to create their own clay pots, learning about the importance of pottery in Native American daily life and culture.

Through stories and activities, they gained a greater appreciation for how these early inhabitants used natural resources with care and creativity.

This interactive unit not only brought history to life but also encouraged students to reflect on the lasting influence of Native American traditions and the significance of preserving local heritage.
