The mission of the Library Media Center is to provide student-centered, inquiry-based learning experiences that promote information fluency. The goal of this instruction is to foster critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. The curriculum is based in the American Association of School Librarian’s Standards and the New York State Learning Standards. The goal of the Remsenburg-Speonk Library Media Center is to make available to faculty and students a collection of materials that will enrich and support the curriculum and school mission and meet the needs of the students and faculty served. The library recognizes that freedom of inquiry is vital to education in a democracy. The library will provide students with a wide range of educational materials on all levels of difficulty and in a variety of formats, with diversity of appeal, allowing for the presentation of many different points of view.
